Psalm 105
The 105th psalm is a biblical psalm from the fourth book of the psalter . According to the Greek count, which is used by the Vulgate as well as the Septuagint , the psalm bears the number 104.
content
The psalmist praises God for his great deeds. In contrast to Psalm 104 , less the deeds of God as Creator are addressed than the miracles of his people. These deeds are understood as an invitation to seek God. The promise that God made to the ancestors of Israel and their descendants in the covenant is the main theme of the Psalm. The fact that the people of Israel were actually able to take possession of the promised land shows that God stands by his promise. In gratitude, it should not only thank God in praise but also keep the commandments in particular.
reception
The hymn Now thank God collects and praise of John Stapfer from the year 1775 , which in 1798 by Matthias Jorissen been added to today's verses 2, 5 and 7, is based on Psalm 105th
