Psalm 101
The 101st psalm is a biblical psalm of David from the fourth book of the psalter . Similar to Psalm 2 or 110 , for example , it probably belonged to the coronation liturgy of the kings of Judah .
content
The psalm presumably represents a promise made by the king on the occasion of his coronation. The king follows God's standards, since all the statements in verses 2–8 could also come from God. The king undertakes to stand up for the law and to bring people into his environment who are loyal to God and who keep themselves on the right path. He is committed to silencing evildoers and holding bad guys accountable.
reception
The psalm was u. a. set to music by Christophorus Demantius : Misericordiam et judicium cantabo tibi Domine (1629)
