The 74th psalm is a psalm from the third book of the psalter . After counting of LXX and Vulgate it represents the 73. Ps. The Ps is determined by the first verse Asaf attributed to a clan head of the Levite temple singer.

The psalm is a lament in which the people ask whether the plight in which they find themselves has no end. It laments the desecration of the temple by enemies. Verses 12-17 recall the acts of God in creating the world . After these deeds, God must also deal with the enemies of his people.
