Psalm 65
The 65th psalm is a biblical psalm from the second book of the psalter . It belongs to the psalms of David . According to the Greek number of the Septuagint , which is also used by the Latin Vulgate , the psalm bears the number 64.

The psalmist praises the works of God. The psalm can be divided into three sections: the first section (verses 2–5) deals with the hearing of prayers and the forgiveness of sins , the second section (verses 6–9) praises the creative power of God, and the third section (verses 10– 14) treats the miracle of the fertility of nature by which life is sustained. The psalm does not limit the hope in God to the people of God , but includes all peoples.

Verse 2 was received and developed by Johann Rist (1607–1667) You are praised in silence (EG 323), verse 10 by Johannes Mühlmann (1573–1613) O little fountain of life deep and large (EG 399).
