Psalm 41
The 41st psalm (according to Greek counting the 40th) is a psalm of David . It belongs to the series of thanksgiving psalms for an individual and is the last psalm of the first book of the psalter.
content
The psalm is the song of thanks for someone who has recovered from an illness. First, the prayer shares his experience that God will stand by those who care for the weak (verses 2-4). Then he describes the distress he has experienced not in the form of a direct narrative, but by quoting the lament that he addressed to God in his illness. In it he particularly deplores the behavior of those who viewed his illness as a punishment and turned away from him (vv. 5-11). After reciting his lament, he thanks God for his recovery, for the fact that his enemies have not triumphed over him, and that he can always feel close to God (verses 12-13).
graduation
The last verse does not belong to the psalm itself, but represents a liturgical conclusion to the first book of the psalter.
