Psalm 86

The 86th Psalm (according to Greek counting the 85th) is a Psalm of David and is to be assigned to the series of " Lamentations of an Individual".

structure

A possible subdivision of the psalm is as follows:

  1. Verses 1-13: Part 1 . This consists of:
    1. Verse 1b: Brief lament
    2. Verses 1-7 and 11a: Requests
    3. Verses 8-10: hymn motif
    4. Verse 12f: desire
  2. Verses 14-17: part 2 . Here the thought of the enemy is added. The part consists of:
    1. Verse 14: Lament
    2. Verse 15: hymn motif
    3. Verse 16f: requests and wishes
