Psalm 12
The 12th psalm (according to Greek counting the 11th) is a psalm of David . Its genus is unclear. Most of the time, however, it is classified as belonging to the liturgy .
genus
The genre of the psalm is unclear. Jörg Jeremias sees him most likely as part of the “prophetic liturgy of lamentation”. Also Hermann Gunkel calls the Psalm as "liturgy". "Liturgy" means here that the intention of the performance with changing voices was in the service.
structure
Gunkel divides the psalm as follows:
- Verse 2f .: After a short cry for help the complaint that falsehood prevails
- Verse 4f .: Wish that YHWH intervene
- Verse 6: Consolation that YHWH's salvation now appears
- Verses 7–9: Church's answer: Praising YHWH's word
