Psalm 96

The 96th psalm (according to Greek counting the 95th) is a psalm from the fourth book of psalms . It belongs to the genre of " hymns ". The psalm has an almost literal correspondence in the 1st book of the Chronicle ( 1 Chr 16.8-36  EU ).

structure

The psalm can be broken down as follows:

  1. Part 1 :
    1. Verses 1-3: hymnal introduction
    2. Verses 4-6: associated main section
  2. Part 2 :
    1. Verses 7–9: New introduction
    2. Verses 10-13: main piece with motifs from the Psalm genre " YHWH's accession to the throne"

classification

Sigmund Mowinckel relates the psalm to the festival of YHWH's accession to the throne .
