Kedusha

The Kedusha ( Hebrew תְּפִילַת קְדוּשָּׁה, Eng. "Sanctification") is a Jewish prayer. The text is based on the calling vision of the prophet Isaiah : "Holy, holy, holy is God the Lord of hosts" ( Isa. 6 : 3  ELB ), which is also used in Christian worship in the Sanctus .

liturgy

The kedusha has been part of Jewish prayer since the Tannaite period. It traditionally forms the third part of the Amida (eighteen supplication). The liturgy varies between different congregations and during different services, but they all have the following blessings in common:

• קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ ה 'צְבָאוֹת מְלֹא כָל הָאָרֶץ כְּבוֹדוֹ, dt. "Holy, holy, holy, God of hosts, the fullness of the whole earth is his glory!"
• בָּרוּךְ כְּבוֹד ה 'מִמְּקוֹמוֹ, dt. "Blessed the glory of God in her place"
• יִמְלֹךְ ה 'לְעוֹלָם. אֱלֹהַיִךְ צִיּוֹן לְדֹר וָדֹר. הַלְלוּיָהּ, dt. "God reigns forever, your God, Zion, sex for sex, Hallalujah". <sic!>

This is followed by the blessing "Kedushat ha-Shem" (בִּרְכַּת הָאֵל הַקָּדוֹשׁ / בִּרְכַּת קְדוּשַׁת הָשֵׁם; dt. holiness of God).

“You are holy and your name is holy and saints boast you every day, Sela. You are praised [...] "

This is followed by "Kedushat ha-Jom" (קְדוּשַׁת הָיוֹם; Holiness of the day).

The Kedusha is used in the morning prayer ( Shacharit ) and Musaf (תְּפִלַּת מוּסָף, Additional prayer on the Sabbath and on public holidays ) supplemented and expanded with additional praise.

(חזן) נְקַדֵּשׁ אֶת שִׁמְךָ בָּעוֹלָם כְּשֵׁם שֶׁמַּקְדִּישִׁים אוֹתוֹ בִּשְׁמֵי מָרוֹם כַּכָּתוּב עַל יַד נְבִיאֶךָ וְקָרָא זֶה אֶל זֶה וְאָמַר (קו"ח) קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ ה 'צְבָאוֹת מְלֹא כָל הָאָרֶץ כְּבוֹדוֹ (חזן) אָז בְּקוֹל רַעַשׁ גָּדוֹל אַדִּיר וְחָזָק מַשְׁמִיעִים קוֹל מִתְנַשְּׂאִים לְעֻמַּת שְׂרָפִים לְעֻמָּתָם בָּרוּךְ יֹאמֵרוּ: (קו"ח) בָּרוּךְ כְּבוֹד יְהֹוָה מִמְּקוֹמוֹ: (חזן) מִמְּקוֹמְךָ מַלְכֵּנוּ תוֹפִיעַ וְתִמְלוֹךְ עָלֵינוּ כִּי מְחַכִּים אֲנַחְנוּ לָךְ. מָתַי תִּמְלֹךְ בְּצִיּוֹן בְּקָרוֹב בְּיָמֵינוּ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד תִּשְׁכּוֹן תִּתְגַּדַּל וְתִתְקַדַּשׁ בְּתוֹךְ יְרוּשָׁלַיִם עִירְךָ לְדוֹר וָדוֹר וּלְנֵצַח נְצָחִים. וְעֵינֵינוּ תִרְאֶינָה מַלְכוּתֶךָ כַּדָּבָר הָאָמוּר בְּשִׁירֵי עֻזֶּךָ עַל יְדֵי דָּוִד מְשִׁיחַ צִדְקֶךָ: (קו"ח) יִמְלֹךְ יְהֹוָה לְעוֹלָם. אֱלֹהַיִךְ צִיּוֹן לְדֹר וָדֹר. We want to sanctify your name in this world, as they pronounce its holiness in the heavens on high, as it is written by your prophet: And one calls to the other and says: (According to and preliminary) "Holy, holy, holy God of hosts, the fullness of the whole earth is his glory!" (Prayer leader) Then they let the voice be heard with a great, powerful and strong storm sound, rising up to meet the Seraphim, speaking to one another: 'Blessed!' (According to and prep.) "Blessed the glory of God of your place!" (Prayer leader) You, our King, want to appear from your place, and rule over us as king, because we wait for you, when you will rule as king in Zion, will soon take place there forever in our days! I want to show you in your greatness and glory in Jeruschalaim, your city, for all generations and for all eternity! May our eyes see your rule according to the word spoken in the songs of your power through David, the anointed of your right: (According to and prep.) "God your God Zion reigns forever, sex for sex, Hallalujah!" (Prayer leader) We want to proclaim your greatness sex for sex and express your holiness in all eternity, and your praise, our God, should not leave our mouth for all eternity, because you are a great and holy King, God; Blessed are you, God, holy God! "
