Birgitta Haukdal
Birgitta Haukdal Brynjarsdóttir (born July 28, 1979 in Húsavík , Iceland ) is an Icelandic pop singer .
In November 1999 she joined the pop group Írafár as a replacement for the lead singer. In the summer of 2000 the band released their first single: Hvar er ég? ( Where am I? ). Two more singles followed in 2001. In 2002 the band got a record deal with Ski Fan , Iceland's largest record label . Her first album Allt sem ég sé ( Everything that I see ) was released there in November 2002 . The album became the fastest selling album in Iceland for the past 25 years and went platinum.
In 2003 Birgitta Haukdal was voted Pop Star of the Year and Artist of the Year . She also won the national preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest with her title Segðu mér allt ( Tell me everything ) . At the final in Riga , however, she sang the song in English ( Open your heart ) and thus took eighth place.
