Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson (born May 29, 1989 in Dalvík ) is an Icelandic pop singer .

Life

At the age of 15 he played in the successful musical Oliver! in Akureyri with. Other roles followed before he won the TV talent show Bandið hans Bubba in 2008 and henceforth worked as a professional musician .

With the title Ég á Líf ( I live ) he prevailed against six competitors in the final of the Icelandic preliminary decision show Söngvakeppnin and represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö . The song landed at number one on the Icelandic charts after winning the preliminary show. At the ESC final in Malmö, Eyþór reached 17th place. After Paul Oscar in 1997, he was the first participant in his country to sing his song in Icelandic again. Since the Eurovision Song Contest in 1999 , a country no longer has to compete in its own national language.

He is married to Soffía Ósk Guðmundsdóttir; the couple has three children.
