history

The diocese of Cesena was established in the 1st century . In the 5th century it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Ravenna as a suffragan .

On September 30, 1986 the diocese of Cesena was by the Congregation for Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis the diocese of Sarsina affiliated.
