history

The Diocese of Ciudad Valles was founded on November 27, 1960 by Pope John XXIII. built with the Apostolic Constitution Cum rectus rerum from cedings of the dioceses of Huejutla and San Luis Potosí and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Monterrey as a suffragan . On 28 May 1997, the diocese was part of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution Apostolicum officium erected Diocese of Matehuala from.

The Diocese of Ciudad Valles was founded on November 25, 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. Subordinated to the Archdiocese of San Luis Potosí as a suffragan with the Apostolic Constitution Mexicani populi .
