The Roman Catholic diocese of East Anglia ( Latin : Dioecesis Angliae Orientalis ), which has its seat in Norwich , was detached from the diocese of Northampton on March 13, 1976 and extends over the areas of Cambridge , Norfolk and Suffolk , a region of strong population growth.
