The Diocese of Hualien ( Chinese  天主教花蓮教區 , Latin Dioecesis Hvalienensis ) is in the Republic of China (Taiwan) located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Hualien . It covers the eastern part of Taiwan and mainly consists of Hualien and Taidong counties .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Hwalien with the Apostolic Constitution Ad Regnum Christi on August 7, 1952 from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Kaohsiung and the Apostolic Prefecture of Taipei .

On March 1, 1963 she was raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolica praefectura and was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Taipei as a suffragan diocese.
