history
The diocese of La Paz en la Baja California Sur was founded on April 13, 1957 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Qui arcana Dei from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Baja California as Apostolic Prefecture La Paz en la Baja California Sur . The Apostolic Prefecture of La Paz en la Baja California Sur was founded on March 1, 1976 by Pope Paul VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Cum compertum raised to the Apostolic Vicariate .
On March 21, 1988, the Apostolic Vicariate La Paz en la Baja California Sur was raised to a diocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Quandoquidem consilium and placed under the Archdiocese of Hermosillo as a suffragan . The diocese of La Paz en la Baja California Sur was founded on November 25, 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. subordinated to the Archdiocese of Tijuana as a suffragan with the Apostolic Constitution Mexicani populi .
