history

The diocese of San Nicolás de los Arroyos was on March 3, 1947 by Pope Pius XII. built with the papal bull Maxime quidem iuvat from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of La Plata and the Diocese of Mercedes . The diocese gave up on February 11, 1957 parts of its territory establishing the diocese of San Isidro and on March 27, 1976 it ceded parts of its territory establishing the diocese of Zárate-Campana . The diocese of San Nicolás de los Arroyos is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Rosario as a suffragan .
