The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ventimiglia-San Remo ( lat. : Dioecesis Ventimiliensis-Sancti Romuli , ital. : Diocese of Ventimiglia-Sanremo ) is one in Italy located Roman Catholic diocese based in Ventimiglia .
history
The Diocese of Ventimiglia-Sanremo was established in the 7th century as the Diocese of Ventimiglia and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Milan as a suffragan . In 1797 the Diocese of Ventimiglia was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Genoa as a suffragan. On April 9, 1806, the Diocese of Ventimiglia was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Aix as a suffragan diocese by Pope Pius VII with the Apostolic Constitution Expositum cum Nobis . The Diocese of Ventimiglia was founded on June 20, 1831 by Pope Gregory XVI. with the Apostolic Constitution Sollicitudo omnium ecclesiarum again subordinated to the Archdiocese of Genoa as a suffragan.
On July 3, 1975, the Diocese of Ventimiglia was renamed the Diocese of Ventimiglia-Sanremo by the Holy Congregation for Bishops with the decree In dioecesi Ventimiliensi .
