Career

Björn Barta grew up in West Berlin , got on ice skates for the first time at the age of three and joined the Berlin ice skating club at the age of five . Due to the better perspective, he switched to the Eisbären Berlin junior division at the age of 13 . At the age of 17 Barta went to the Swedish junior league for Mora IK . The left shooter played there for a year before he returned to Germany and signed a contract with Heilbronner EC . The winger played for the club for two years in the 2nd Bundesliga , where he developed into one of the top performers in the team. In 2000/01 Barta was on the ice for league competitor Bietigheim-Bissingen , a year later he accepted an offer from the Kölner Haie and thus made his first appearances in the German ice hockey league . Initially, the left-handed shooter often played with a license for their cooperation partner EV Duisburg , but over the course of the season he established himself as a winger in the fourth row of the Haie. At the end of the season, the Berliner celebrated the German championship with the KEC . In order to get more ice age, however, Barta switched to the Augsburg Panthers , for whom he played for three years. Since the 2005/06 season , the attacker played at ERC Ingolstadt , with whom he reached the play-offs in the first two years , but was eliminated there in the quarter-finals. For the 2007/08 season Barta signed a contract with league rivals Nürnberg Ice Tigers , with whom he fulfilled his contract until 2012.

Between 2012 and 2016 he played again for the ERC Ingolstadt. Barta was most recently under contract with Füchsen Duisburg between 2016 and 2018, who has his center of life in Cologne.

In 2018 Barta ended his active career as an ice hockey player and moved to the management of Füchse Duisburg. He runs the office and supports the sporting director Lance Nethery .
