Beginnings

Bjarne Thoelke joined the youth team at VfL Wahrenholz in 1996 at the age of four. In 2005 he moved to the youth team of Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg . On August 6, 2010 he made his senior debut when he ran up against TSV Havelse for the second team of VfL Wolfsburg on the first day of the 2010/11 regional league season.

On August 20, 2010, the second match day, Thoelke made his first goal for the second team when he scored 3-2 in the 4-2 win against Türkiyemspor Berlin . That was also his first goal in the senior division. During the season he commuted between A-youth and the second team. At the end of the season there were five appearances for the A-youth in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga and 13 appearances (one hit) for the second team.

First professional contract in Wolfsburg

The following season, Thoelke signed a professional contract on October 11, 2011, after having previously played two missions for the reserve. On October 15, 2011 Thoelke made his professional debut when he was in the starting eleven on the ninth matchday of the Bundesliga against 1. FC Nürnberg . Here he played through the entire game. In the season at the end of which VfL Wolfsburg finished eighth, Thoelke played in six Bundesliga games.

Loan to Dresden and return to Wolfsburg

For the 2012/13 season , Thoelke extended his contract with VfL Wolfsburg until June 30, 2015 and was loaned to the second division team Dynamo Dresden for two seasons . However, the first season for Thoelke was disappointing that the loan was ended after one season. He was only used in five second division games.

For the 2013/14 season Thoelke returned to Wolfsburg and from then on belonged only to the squad of the second team. Due to a torn ligament in his ankle and a subsequent operation, he had to take a break for 16 months. It wasn't until November 2014 that Thoelke returned to work. He played 19 times in the Regionalliga in the 2014/15 season and scored two goals.

Thoelke at Karlsruher SC

For the 2015/16 season , Thoelke moved to Karlsruher SC . There he made his debut on August 22, 2015, the 4th matchday of the season, in a 2-0 home win against MSV Duisburg , when he came on for Daniel Gordon in the 66th minute of the game . On May 21, 2017, the 34th matchday of the following season, Thoelke scored his first goal for KSC in the 1: 2 defeat against Eintracht Braunschweig . In the same season he was relegated to the 3rd division with the Karlsruhe team . Overall, Thoelke could not assert himself with the Badeners. In order to collect match practice, he came to eleven missions (two goals) in the second team in the fifth-class Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in the two seasons .

Change to Hamburger SV

For the 2017/18 season , Thoelke moved to the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV , where he received a one-year contract. The transfer also came about because sports director Jens Todt had brought him to the Karlsruher SC in the same position two years earlier. In the summer training camp, he tore his knee ligament and was out for several months. Back in training, he suffered a syndesmosis ligament rupture in late October 2017, which meant another month-long break. At the end of the season he came to five appearances in the second team in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord , in which he scored one goal. In the first team, he was not used. After the season in which HSV was relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time, he left the club when his contract expired.

Change to Austria

For the 2018/19 season, Thoelke moved to the Austrian Bundesliga for FC Admira Wacker Mödling . In February 2019 he suffered a broken tibia and fibula after a foul by Martin Harrer in the first game after the winter break against FC Wacker Innsbruck . After 19 appearances for Admira in the Bundesliga, he left the club after the 2019/20 season.

National team

Thoelke ran once for the German U18 team in August 2009 . On August 18, 2010 he made his debut for Germany's U-19 team when he was substituted on for Shkodran Mustafi in the 5-2 win in Meerbusch against Belgium at the beginning of the second half . On September 3, 2010 Thoelke made his second and last game for the U19 when he was in the starting eleven in the 2-2 draw in Groesbeck against the Netherlands.
