Blatten (Lötschen) (in the walliser German local dialect: uf the Blattun [ʊf t (e) r blɑtʊn] ) is a Munizipalgemeinde and a Burgergemeinde the district West Raron in the German part of the Swiss Canton Wallis .

geography

Blatten lies at an altitude of 1540 m and is the uppermost municipality in the Lötschental . The Lonza , which rises in the municipality on the Langgletscher, flows through the municipality . The hamlets of Eisten, Ried and Weissenried belong to the community. The place is located in the area of ​​the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn mountain region, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002 .
