Boris Blank (* 10. July 1978 in Karaganda , Kazakh SSR ) is a former German-Russian hockey players , who for many years in the German Ice Hockey League was active, among others, the Krefeld Penguins , Iserlohn Roosters , Eisbären Berlin and Kölner Haie . He is the cousin of Sachar Blank .

Career

Blank received his ice hockey training in the former Soviet Union and moved in 1996, at the age of 18, to EC Wilhelmshaven-Stickhausen in the second-class 1st League North , where he was in a professional squad for the first time in the following years .

For the next 1997/98 season, the winger signed a one-year contract with league rivals Hannover Turtles , for which he was able to score ten goals and 24 scorer points in 50 missions . After a year, Blank returned to Wilhelmshaven and achieved 26 goals and 49 points in 46 games in the 1998/99 season, whereupon he was licensed as a promotional licensed player for Wilhelmshaven in the summer of 1999 by the new DEL Club Moskitos Essen .

In the mosquitoes, the native of Kazakhstan was unable to score any points in the eleven regular season appearances, but in the relegation round , where he scored his first goal in seven games in the top German ice hockey division and also scored four assists . Most of the season, however, Blank played in Wilhelmshaven, where he was able to achieve almost one point per game in 40 games with 19 goals and 39 points. In the 2000/01 season, the attacker came again without exception in the lower class league and came in 47 games on 25 goals and 58 points.

The Eisbären Berlin brought Blank to the Spree for the 2001/02 season , together with Eduard Lewandowski , and gave him the chance to finally prove himself in the top German division. Blank was used for the Berlin team in 59 games and was able to convince with three goals and twelve points, and thanks to his strong defensive work, he also had plus / minus statistics of +7. In the 2002/03 season , the striker brought it to just 37 missions due to injuries, in which he was still able to score seven goals and reach 17 points.

For the 2003/04 season , the attacker signed a contract with the Kölner Haien , but where he could not cope with the defensive system of the former national coach Hans Zach and in his two years in Cologne came in 84 games to only eight goals and 23 points. After Blank's contract in Cologne was dissolved by mutual agreement, the league competitor Krefeld Pinguine took him under contract, in which he knew how to convince in the 2005/06 season alongside Alexander Seliwanow . His contract in Krefeld was accordingly extended by one year to 2007. After a rather mediocre season in 2006/07 , the left-handed shooter's contract was prematurely extended to 2011 during the 2007/08 season , as Blank showed a good performance after 29 completed season games with eight goals and nine assists. After a total of nine years in Krefeld, he left the penguins and switched to the Iserlohn Roosters for the 2014/15 season .

In 2018 Blank ended his career after more than 900 DEL games.

International

Boris Blank played various international matches for the German national ice hockey team , for example at the 2002 World Cup in Sweden, when he scored three goals in seven games.
