Boris Henn (born May 24, 1967 in Pinneberg , Schleswig-Holstein ) is a German presenter, journalist and television producer with his own production company, the henn-tv, based in Cologne .

Life

Boris Henn completed his community service at the Paracelsus Clinic in Henstedt-Ulzburg after graduating from the Julius-Leber-Schule in Hamburg in 1986 . During this time he was already working as a freelancer for the NDR youth radio in Hamburg and Radio Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel.

He completed his journalistic training at Radio Hamburg . As a trainee he worked as a police reporter, reported as a correspondent on the first free Volkskammer election in the GDR from East Berlin and the "two plus four consultations" on German unity in Bonn, and traveled through the Algerian Sahara on an expedition lasting several weeks . Later he presented the morning show on the Hamburg youth broadcaster OK Radio on Saturdays .

After four years at the radio, Boris Henn moved to RTL Nord in 1994 and worked there as an editor, reporter and presenter, as well as a correspondent for RTL News. He then went to Cologne for RTL and was involved in the development of the celebrity magazine “ Exclusiv ”. Then he switched to the daily RTL magazine "Explosiv"; initially as the boss on duty , then as deputy editor-in-chief and later as editor-in-chief. He became known throughout Germany through the moderation of " Explosiv " and "Explosiv Weekend".

In the summer of 1999, Henn set up his own production company, henn-tv, as a TV producer, consultant and presenter.

For the Cologne-based production company AZ Media , he played a key role in the development and production of the RTL magazine “anders trend”, which he also moderated. He was also involved in the conception of the “gaywatch” program and moderated the format that was broadcast on VOX in Cologne .

In 2001, Henn went to the USA as an Executive Producer to report on the Academy Awards for the television station ProSieben . He worked as a producer for the television broadcast of the Oscars in Germany and the entire Oscar reporting on ProSieben and Sat.1 . He then stayed in the United States, where he produced contributions for the magazine programs “ Blitz ” (Sat.1) as well as “ taff ” and “ SAM ” (ProSieben) and “ Brisant ” ( MDR / ARD ) and worked for various US Broadcasters such as the “Learning channel”.

After returning to Germany, Boris Henn worked as a freelance TV producer and author with his production company henn-tv. He was instrumental in the development of TV formats for the Internet. Henn developed several webcast formats for the Internet service provider AOL and produced and moderated the political program “Talk am Millerntor”, which had previously been presented by Ole von Beust and Roger Willemsen . Henn was the first webcast journalist to interview then Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in a live broadcast on AOL directly from the Berlin Federal Chancellery .

Henn reported several times from the Berlin Film Festival for the Franco-German TV broadcaster arte and worked as head of the department for the Berlin TV production “maz und movie” for the daily Berlinale magazine from arte.

Boris Henn worked in format development, as an author and editor-in-chief for Hans Meiser's production company CreaTV in Hürth. Here he developed and was responsible for formats such as “Simply Relax” (VOX), “Living at home with Nina Ruge ” (3Sat / ZDF) and “ Mein Garten ” (RTL).

From autumn 2005 to the end of 2010, Henn worked for Günther Jauch's company i & u TV in Cologne. He developed and directed the programs " V - Die Consumer Show " with Marco Schreyl and "Einspruch - die Show der Rechtsirrtäne" with Andrea Kiewel (both RTL) and was the head of service for the RTL magazine " stern TV " and executive producer for " Of course Steffens ”(ZDF).

Since 2002 he has been teaching at the RTL Journalist School for TV and Multimedia in Cologne and at the Academy for Journalism in Hamburg.

In 2011 he worked freelance for his company henn-tv fernsehproduktion as a coach, consultant and TV producer.

At the beginning of 2012, Henn returned to RTL after 13 years and was there until summer 2014 as Executive Producer in the entertainment department of the station, responsible for formats such as “ Deutschland sucht den Superstar ” (DSDS). From autumn 2014 he played a key role in setting up the online TV channel doppioTV in Berlin, where he was deputy editor-in-chief and executive producer. He moderated the daily lifestyle magazine doppioTV on the Swiss TV channel TV 24 and worked as an author of reports and reports.

Boris Henn was married to the journalist and crime novelist Jörg Böhm from May 2012 until his death in October 2019 . The couple lived near Hamburg.
