Borken is a district of the official city of Herzberg (Elster) in the Elbe-Elster district in Brandenburg . It is located about five kilometers northwest of the city on the federal highway 101 in the lowland between the Schwarzen Elster and Kremitz .

history

Borken , which was laid out as an anger village , was first mentioned in a document in 1385 in a copy book entry . The predominantly agricultural place was parish in Arnsnesta , about two kilometers to the north-west , whose church belonged to the Sedes Schlieben until the Reformation . In the late Middle Ages, the residents of the Schweinitz office were liable for interest .

The village has changed hands several times in its history. In 1487, the von Otte family from Herzberg and the bailiff Hans Blumberg were named as owners, later the von Mila family , who lived on the Grochwitz manor . Around 1529 the place had about 100 inhabitants and there were fourteen hoppers and two gardeners . An inheritance and feudal judge position was dissolved in 1874.

Together with ten neighboring villages, Borken was incorporated into the district town of Herzberg on December 31, 2001 and the village has had the status of a district ever since. At that time, around 140 people lived here.

In addition, a house built around 1920 is on the list of architectural monuments of the state of Brandenburg. It is a single-storey, eaves solid construction with a jamb and gable roof . A stable building from 1947 and a half-timbered barn from the 18th century can also be found on the property of the Vierseitenhof.

Club life in the village is shaped by the volunteer fire brigade founded in 1935 and the local youth club. The cultural highlight in Borken is the annual village festival that takes place in summer.
