Bouça is a locality and a municipality in the north of Portugal .

history

Finds show a prehistoric settlement, including the Estátua Menir da Bouça , a menhir from the megalithic era .

Today's place was probably created with the settlement policy in the course of the medieval Reconquista , with the most populous place Ferradosa as the starting point. In the 17th century it was documented as Bouça do Nuno and in the 19th century as Bouça do Nunes . The name Nune is assumed as the origin of the name, a personal name that was common here in the Middle Ages. Bouça later lost the name affix.

Bouça has been a separate municipality since at least the 17th century.
