Bradley Ronald Bergen (born March 16, 1966 in Prince Albert , Saskatchewan , Canada ) is a professional German - Canadian ice hockey player who last played in the 2nd Bundesliga at SERC Wild Wings . He ended his career after the 2007/08 season.
Player career
The 1.80 m tall defender began his career with the Saskatoon Blades and the Prince Albert Raiders in the Canadian junior league Western Hockey League , before moving to Germany in the Oberliga in Dortmund in the summer of 1987 . After a season he moved within the league to Königsbrunn . From there he moved to EC Ratingen in the ice hockey Bundesliga in the summer of 1992 .
After one and a half years with the Löwen, the right-handed shooter went to local rivals Krefelder EV , for whose DEL team Krefeld Pinguine he was on the ice even after the introduction of the new German professional ice hockey class. In 1995 , Bergen moved to Düsseldorfer EG , with whom he was able to become German champion in his first year . After three years in Düsseldorf, the Canadian finally switched to the Augsburger Panthers , and in 2000 he worked for the Adler Mannheim , with whom he won his second championship in 2001. His last DEL station so far before he went to the Wild Wings were the Eisbären Berlin , for whom Bergen was on the ice from 2002 to 2004 . After the 2007/08 season, he ended his ice hockey career at the age of 42.
In the German national team he came to missions between 1996 and 1998, while he was part of the team at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano .
Rape charges
Before the 2003/04 season , Bergen was with the Eisbären Berlin team in Sweden in preparation for the upcoming season. There he and his teammate Yvon Corriveau were reported to have been raped by a 20-year-old Swede on August 23 . Although both protested their innocence, they were for a total of 18 days in custody taken. After the allegations were proven false, Bergen and Corriveau were released from custody on September 10 and the investigation was terminated.
