Branko Damljanović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Бранко Дамљановић ; born June 17, 1961 in Novi Sad ) is a Serbian chess master .

Life

Damljanović was Yugoslav youth champion in 1979, in 1982 FIDE awarded him the title of International Master , and in 1989 he became Grand Master . In 1991 and 2001 (shared 1st – 4th) he won the Yugoslav individual championship. In 2006 he shared first and second place at the championship of Serbia-Montenegro and won the subsequent playoff in Kraljevo against Dejan Pikula with 2.5-1.5 (+2 = 1 −1). In the course of his career he won numerous tournaments, the most important: Graz 1987, Nea Makri 1990 ( zonal tournament ), Belgrade 1992, Saragossa 1993, A Coruña 1996, Vila Real de Santo António 1998, Belgrade 2000 and Frascati 2006. In 1990 he took part in the interzonal tournament in Manila .

In January 2015 he is in fifth place in the Serbian Elo ranking.

Team chess

National team

Damljanović took part in seven Chess Olympiads between 1990 and 2004 . He also reached second place at the 1989 team world championships with Yugoslavia, with the best individual result on the second reserve board and took part in eight European team championships between 1992 and 2013 . In 2013 he achieved the second-best individual result on the third board.

societies

In Yugoslavia Damljanović played for Crvena Zvezda Belgrade and Agrouniverzal Zemun , with whom he also took part in the European Club Cup . In the Bosnian Premijer Liga he played for the ŠK Panteri Bijeljina in 2002 , in 2009 and 2010 for the ŠK Bosna Sarajevo , with which he became team champion in 2009, and in 2014 for the ŠK Bihać . In the French top 16, Damljanović played for La Tour Sarrazine Antibes from 2006 to 2009 , in the Spanish team championship from 2002 to 2004 for CA iberCaja Zaragoza and in Hungary in the 2019/20 season for Maróczy Géza Sportegyesület . At the European Club Cup 2002 he took part with the Macedonian club BM Kisela Voda Skopje and achieved the second best result on the third board.
