Robert Markuš ( Serbian : Роберт Маркуш * 7. October 1983 in Backa Topola ) is a Serbian chess - Grand Master (since 2004).

Life

As a 15-year-old, he finished second behind Blažimir Kovačević at the IM tournament of the First Saturday tournaments in May 1999.

He played for the Serbian national team at the 2004 , 2006 , 2010 , 2012 , 2014 and 2016 Chess Olympiads and the European Team Championships in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2015 and 2017.

In November 2018 he was in second place in the Serbian ranking.

He is a member of the Novi Sad Chess Club in Serbia , but used to play for the BSK Gambit . In Austria he was registered with Styria Graz from 2005 to 2011 , but was only used in the seasons 2005/06 (in which he was Austrian team champion) and 2006/07 . In the 2012/13 season Robert Markuš was Austrian team champion with Sparkasse Jenbach . In Croatia he plays for the Šk Liburnija Rijeka . In Hungary he played for Statisztika PSC from 1999 to 2007 and since 2007 for the Aquaprofit Nagykanizsai Tungsram Sakk-Klub , with which he became Hungarian team champion in 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 , 2018 and 2019 . He has been playing in the German Federal Chess League for SC Hansa Dortmund since the 2014/15 season . In the Bosnian Premijer Liga he played from 2003 to 2006 for the ŠK Panteri Bijeljina , in 2008 and 2009 for the ŠK Slavija Istočno Sarajevo and in 2012 for the ŠK Bosna Sarajevo . In the Dutch master class , Markuš played for Charlois Europoort in the 2015/16 season . At the European Club Cup took Markuš 2015 SS Gambit Skopje and 2016 with VSK Sveti Nikolaj Srpski Valjevo part.

He is married to the chess player Ana Srebrnič .
