Braselton is a city in the Counties of Barrow , Gwinnett , Hall and Jackson in the US state of Georgia with 7511 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Braselton borders directly on Hoschton in the south and is located about 15 km west of Jefferson and about 70 km northeast of Atlanta .
history
Braselton was established as a settlement in 1884 and was promoted to town in 1916. Between 2000 (1206 inhabitants) and 2010 the population increased more than fivefold.
Kim Basinger , an American actress, bought the entire location for $ 20 million in 1989. After getting into financial trouble for legal reasons, she was forced to sell the place for $ 1 million.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 7511 inhabitants were distributed among 2556 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.94 people per household. There are a total of 2833 households.
83.5% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.22 people. Children under the age of 18 lived in 47.6% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 15.5% of all households.
32.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 28.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 12.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 49.2% of the population were male and 50.8% were female.
82.9% of the population identified themselves as white , 8.8% as African-American , 0.4% as Native American and 3.9% as Asian Americans . 2.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.0% to several ethnic groups. 8.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 90,284 USD , while 5.5% of the population lived below the poverty line.
