Brendan Buckley (born February 6, 1977 in Needham , Massachusetts ) is a former American ice hockey player who was last under contract with Ritten Sport .
Career
Buckley began his career in 1995 at Boston College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . After his first season, the defensive-focused defender was selected in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the fifth round in 117th place. He stayed in Boston for three more years before signing his first professional contract in the system of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim for the 1999/2000 season.
There he spent most of the season with the Quad City Mallards in the United Hockey League and also played four games for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in the American Hockey League . After a change, Buckley played the following four years for the farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins , the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the AHL. Other stations were the Syracuse Crunch , Worcester IceCats , Peoria Rivermen and Manchester Monarchs . With the Monarchs, the US-American went into the 2007/08 season as team captain , but decided to move to Europe due to disagreements in the team and environment.
He signed a one-year contract with the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League . After the season, the defender's contract was extended by a year, but during the summer break it was announced that Buckley had signed a contract in the system of the San Jose Sharks from the National Hockey League . After the pre-season training camp, they sent him to the farm team, to the Worcester Sharks from the AHL.
He started the 2009/10 season with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL before he was signed by the EHC Linz in November 2009. In July 2010 he moved to Ritten Sport from the Italian A1 series . After the 2010/11 season, the American ended his active career.
