Brezovica (German Bresowitz , older also "Bernstein") is a municipality near the Slovenian capital Ljubljana ( German : Laibach) on the edge of the Julian Alps . It has around 9,300 inhabitants.

Brezovica is one of the municipalities that form the slow transition from the Julian Alps to the flatter areas up to the neighboring provincial capital Ljubljana. It is connected to the once richly irrigated landscape in which the indigenous people lived in pile dwellings. Today the kilometer-long landscapes of the Ljubljana Moors still remind us of that time.
