Brockhausen is a district in the municipality of Bad Essen in the district of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony .

history

In 1392 the village of Brockhausen was first mentioned in the parish of Barkhausen .

Until 1972, Brockhausen was an independent municipality as part of the Wittlage district . In the course of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , which took place on July 1, 1972, the Wittlage district was incorporated into the Osnabrück district and the Brockhausen community - with 16 other localities - became part of the new Bad Essen community.

Culture and sights

In the village on Brockhauser Weg is one of the large inns in the Bad Essen community, which has been family-owned since 1853.

Brockhausen is located in an extensive field and meadow landscape, which is ideal for cycling on the nearby Mittelland Canal . There are hikes in the nearby Wiehen Mountains . The walking and cycling is the nature park Terra Vita relaxing, reference being made to the theme tours in the immediate vicinity, to the Ippenburg Castle and the Castle Hünnefeld and other remarkable gardens, the Museum and Park to the Varus Battle and the dinosaur tracks of Barkhausen made can be.

Others

  • In 2008, Frank Heitmeyer was the first Brockhauser to take part in the Paralympic Games in Beijing in sport shooting.
  • The Brockhausen-Rabber trombone choir was founded in Brockhausen as early as 1851 and belongs to the Barkhausen-Rabber parish. This makes it one of the oldest trombone choirs in northern Germany.
  • The Brockhausen Schützengesellschaft von 1960 e. V. organizes a well-known shooting festival every year.
  • The "Carports" are a regionally known village choir.
  • Wind farm with three Enercon E-115 wind turbines with a hub height of 149 m and a total height of 207 m.
