The 87 hectare lake Niskie Brodno , on the other hand, lies in the area of the city of Brodnica, but part of the western shore belongs to the territory of the rural municipality. Two other small lakes near Cielęta and Szczuka are in the municipality. The lakes belong to the Pojezierze Brodnickie ("Brodnica Lake District", Mezoregion 315.12).

history

The approximately 30 kilometers long section of the Drwęca river between Brodnica ( Strasburg ) and Lubicz ( Leibitsch ) shortly before Thorn marked part of the north-western border of Poland several times in history.

After the collapse of the monastic state , the area belonged to Polish Prussia from 1466 under the protection of the Crown of Poland. The first partition of Poland in 1772 made it part of the province of West Prussia up to and including 1919 and in 1818 it became part of the Strasburg district in West Prussia . At the turn of the 20th century, the names of some villages were Germanized. When the provisions of the Versailles Treaty came into force in January 1920 after the First World War , the area fell to Poland in 1920. (see Polish Corridor )

During the Second World War , the region became part of the new Reichsgau province of Danzig-West Prussia of the German Empire on October 26, 1939 . After the war it became part of the Polish state and the German part of the population was expelled .

From 1975 to 1998 the rural community belonged to the Thorn Voivodeship .
