The Browning wz. 1928 (wz. = Wzór, Polish for pattern) was a machine gun . It served as the standard orderly weapon of the armed forces of Poland before the Second World War . The weapon was used by the Wehrmacht as a booty weapon and continued to be produced. There it was called IMG 28 (p) . The weapon is based on the Browning Automatic Rifle but has been adapted to the Mauser 7.9 × 57 mm caliber .
