Lists on the subject |
The cartridge 7.63 × 25 mm was specifically designed for the 1896-built Mauser - automatic pistol C96 developed.
history
The basis of the ammunition was the 7,65 × 25 mm Borchardt cartridge . The case shape ( bottle neck case ) was the same, but compared to the Borchardt cartridge, the propellant charge was so increased that the new ammunition could no longer be used in the Borchardt pistol . The trajectory came indeed very stretched, but lacked the projectile despite high kinetic energy to stopping power , since the caliber was too small.
Nevertheless, the 7.63 mm Mauser cartridge belonged to the development of the .357 Magnum strongest ammunition for handguns . In the Soviet Union , the Mauser cartridge was modified to the 7.62 × 25 mm TT in the 1930s and used for the new Tokarew TT-30 (later TT-33). The 7.63 cartridge could be fired in the Tokarev pistols, but this was risky due to the higher gas pressure of the Mauser cartridge.
From the 7.63 × 25 mm, the stronger 9 × 25 mm Mauser was derived in 1904 .
