The Knorr-Bremse 1935/36 light machine gun was a machine gun designed by Hans Lauf in the late 1920s for what was then Knorr-Bremse AG Berlin . It fired the German standard cartridge 7.92 × 57 mm .
description
Initially, in 1933 Lauf had the weapon tested by the Swedish armed forces with 6.5 mm ammunition due to the armaments restrictions imposed by the Weimar Republic . It was manufactured by Svenska Automatvapen AB and named Kulsprutegevär m-1940 by the Swedish Army . Lauf improved the MG so that it received a different grip , a bipod , a modified gas system and a longer flash hider. In this version it could fire cartridges of the caliber 7.92 × 57 mm. He also applied for a patent for the weapon in the United States in 1936 under number 430641 . The Finnish military ordered the "Knorr-Bremse" in small numbers at the beginning of the Second World War .
