action

Henry Creedlow works for Bruiser magazine (German: bully, thug, but also monster). Henry is unhappy, his wife Janine sees him as a failure. He is also plagued by violent fantasies. Henry also suffers a financial setback. His friend and colleague Jimmy invested money for Henry, but the plant was a failure.

Milo Styles, the publisher, puts Henry down in front of the assembled workforce. Nevertheless, he goes to a celebration organized by Styles with Janine. There he gets closer to Rosie, who works as a photographer for the magazine. Rosie is Styles' wife who is separated from him. In her free time, she makes plaster masks. She also makes a mask for Henry. It is white with no special features. Henry notices that Janine and Styles have something with each other, but says nothing. Only on the way back does he reprimand his wife, but Janine doesn't care. Rather, she wishes Henry were dead. She lets him get out in front of the house and drives away.

Henry, who previously got drunk, wakes up the next morning and now wears a white mask on his face that he cannot remove. When the housekeeper Katie comes into the house, he hides and realizes that Katie is making use of the wallet he left behind. He kills her with her handbag, which is full of silver cutlery from his house. Shortly before Janine comes home, he hides Katie's body. He overhears a phone call in which Janine says that she wants to leave him. Henry follows his wife, who wants to meet the called party. She drives to the publishing house, which is empty on Sunday, and meets with Styles there. Both are already in a clear position when, surprisingly, Rosie appears and photographs her husband. Styles pursues his wife and confronts her. At the same time, Janine is murdered by Henry by pushing her out of the window with an extension cord around her neck.

The police, in the person of Detective McCleary, are interrogating Styles. Meanwhile, Henry escapes from the building undetected. At home he makes the discovery that his friend Jimmy has cheated on him several times out of his money. Henry ignores the knocking policemen trying to inform him of his wife's death. He fakes his suicide and warns Rosie over the phone that she is suspected of murder. Henry seeks out Jimmy, who confesses to the fraud and offers a check for the embezzled sum as reparation. But instead of a checkbook, Jimmy has a pistol in his hand and tries unsuccessfully to shoot Henry. Henry can kill Jimmy and hide his body.

Henry calls a talk radio show on a local radio station and identifies himself as the perpetrator. After talking to the moderator, he is convinced that he must kill all those who have played along with him in order to get his face back.

The next day, Styles is hosting a costume party. Henry disguises himself as Zorro with a white mask. Rosie also attends the party, shadowed by McCleary, who still suspects her of the murder of Janine. With the help of a few colleagues, Henry can lure Styles onto a balcony and hang it over the party guests with a few cables. Both the guests and the styles themselves consider this a special party gag. Henry kills Styles with the help of a laser cannon. When Henry got rid of his costume, a colleague addressed him by name. Thus Henry realizes that he has his normal face again. McCleary has dropped the suspicion against Rosie and becomes aware of Henry. But now Rosie appears disguised as Zorro with a white mask and explains that she is the perpetrator. She can use it to cover Henry's escape, who escapes McCleary.

Years later, Henry works in an office in another city. The supervisor is impatient and angry and makes serious accusations against an employee. Then he tells Henry to come to his office. Angry Henry goes to the office, his face now covered with a white mask again.
