Brzezinka is a village with a Schulzenamt of the Brzeźnica municipality in the Powiat Wadowicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

history

The place lies in the area between the rivers Skawa in the west and Skawinka in the east, which was separated from Lesser Poland in 1274 and attached to the Duchy of Opole .

The place was first mentioned in 1381 as Brzeszina . The name of the place is derived from the Polish name for birch forest . Until the 20th century, Brzezinka had for the most part a common history with the village of Kopytówka .

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , which existed from 1315 during the period of Polish particularism . Since 1327 the duchy existed under the feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to Poland in 1494.

When Poland was first partitioned in 1772, Brzezinka became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

From 1829 the village belonged to Józef Baum von Appelshofen.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Brzezinka became part of Poland again. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Brzezinka was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
