Buch was a political municipality in what was then the Hartberg district in Styria . It existed from 1849/50 to 1959, was then combined with Geiseldorf to form the Buch-Geiseldorf community and has been part of the Buch-St. Magdalena .

geography

Buch is located on the northern edge of the Eastern Styrian Riedelland , 45 kilometers east of Graz, 5 km south of Hartberg . Book is in the valley of the Hartberger Safen .

history

Buch (1258 as Pueche ) was originally the name of Oberbuch, Unterbuch is first mentioned in 1329 as inferior Puech . The municipality used to belong to the parish of Waltersdorf ( Dean's Office Waltersdorf ).

When the local parishes were set up in the Austrian Empire after the revolution of 1848/49 , the two tax communities of Ober- and Unterbuch were combined to form the municipality of Buch . Even then, the main town of the community was the larger sub-book.

It was not until 1945 that commercial businesses began to settle in the Buch area , before the area was exclusively used for agriculture .

In 1959, the municipality was merged with the neighboring municipality of Geiseldorf to form the municipality of Buch-Geiseldorf .
