The Bundestag constituency Suhl - Schmalkalden-Meiningen - Hildburghausen (constituency 197) was an electoral district in Thuringia . It comprised the independent city of Suhl and the districts of Schmalkalden-Meiningen and Hildburghausen . In the 2005 Bundestag election , 206,997 residents were entitled to vote; four years earlier there were still 213,525 inhabitants. The predecessor constituency with similar territory was the constituency of Suhl - Schmalkalden - Ilmenau - Neuhaus . For the 2017 federal election , the constituency was enlarged to include the Sonneberg district and reclassified to the Suhl - Schmalkalden-Meiningen - Hildburghausen - Sonneberg constituency (constituency 196).
