The federal constituency of Suhl-Schmalkalden-Meiningen-Hildburghausen-Sonneberg (constituency 196) is an electoral district in Thuringia. It includes the independent city of Suhl and the districts of Schmalkalden-Meiningen , Hildburghausen and Sonneberg . Its predecessor constituency was the federal constituency of Suhl - Schmalkalden-Meiningen - Hildburghausen , which was enlarged by the district of Sonneberg for the 2017 federal election . The district of Sonneberg was previously part of the Bundestag constituency of Sonneberg - Saalfeld-Rudolstadt - Saale-Orla-Kreis . The change in the constituency of Thuringia became necessary because Thuringia lost one constituency for the 2017 federal election.
