The castle Nagelberg is the residue of a hilltop castle on 247 m above sea level. NN near the Nagelsberg district of the city of Künzelsau in Hohenlohekreis in Baden-Württemberg .
The castle was probably built in the 13th century, first mentioned in a document in 1282 in the possession of the von Stein family, given to the Comburg monastery in 1290 by the last von Stein family , since 1330 it belonged to the diocese of Mainz , which occupied the castle with a bailiff in 1492. In 1803 the castle was sold to a middle-class family in the course of secularization . 1822 overthrew keep one.
The former small castle complex now only houses new buildings and is fully integrated into the place. It can be reached via a stone bridge built over the former neck ditch , behind which there is the gate with an old coat of arms over the opening and a newly built tower stump. There are also many remains of the wall and the foundation walls of the keep.
