Burgstall Altgabelstein

The Postal Altgabelstein denotes a Outbound hilltop castle on 330  m above sea level. NN in the forest department Alten Bürg a wooded hill 10 meters above the Michelbach east of the village Michelbach am Wald (municipality Öhringen ) in Hohenlohekreis in Baden-Württemberg .

The castle, whose origin and owner is unknown, was secured on three sides towards the northern mountain by cuttings and artificially deepened inlets of the Michelbach. It can be assumed that the castle served to secure the Michelbachtal, possibly also a predecessor of the Gabelstein Castle .

The castle stables , to which the "Alte Forks" award refers, no longer shows any remains, a foundation of a curtain wall towards the Michelbach can only be assumed. The reading of a “compartment” (clay and straw filling between the beams in half-timbered houses ) indicates, as in the case of the Eselsburg , a burned-down half-timbered building.
