Burkhard Segler (born March 5, 1951 in Oberhausen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Segler began playing football at the Oberhausen district club Sterkrade 06/07 and, at the age of 18, moved up to the first team with which he won the championship in the Niederrhein Association League at the end of his premier season in the senior division .

At the age of 19, Segler was part of the Bayer 04 Leverkusen squad , for which he played two seasons in the Regionalliga West . For the 1972/73 season he moved within the league for VfL Osnabrück in the Regionalliga Nord , in which he was active for one season and became the top scorer with 24 goals. In August 1973 , Borussia Dortmund signed the sailor, who had been part of the FC Bayern Munich squad for a few months , and who was in his first game for Borussia on August 26, 1973 (4th match day) (in the 2-0 home win over SpVgg Erkenschwick ) first of 20 goals scored. He played 58 games in the two following seasons of the newly created and double-track 2. Bundesliga and scored 14 goals (all in the first season). From 1976 to 1979 Segler played in the Bundesliga and scored 13 goals in 88 matches. He made his Bundesliga debut on August 3, 1976 (1st matchday) in a 4-3 win in the away game against Hamburger SV ; his first goal on September 17, 1976 (6th matchday) was also the winning goal to make it 2-1 in the home game against Hertha BSC . He also played for BVB in 1979 in the DFB Cup .

Before the end of the first half of the season, he moved to the second division club SC Viktoria Köln for which he played three seasons (two in the 2nd Bundesliga North and one in the Oberliga Nordrhein ). For Victoria he played a total of 61 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and in 1980 and 1981 four cup appearances in the DFB Cup. In the following three seasons he was one season each for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , where he came to two cup appearances in 1982 and for which he played 32 league games, the 1. FC Bocholt for which he came to 14 appearances in the Oberliga Nordrhein and - together with Horst Bertram - active at SuS Hüsten 09 in the Oberliga Westfalen .

National team

Segler once wore the jersey of the national team: On February 22, 1977 he lost with the B national team in Orléans 1-0 against the French team; he was substituted on for Reiner Hollmann from Braunschweig .
