The Cadre 45/1 World Championship in 1931 was the fifth Cadre 45/1 UIFAB World Championship, which was held until 1938 in Cadre 45/1 and from 1967 in Cadre 47/1. The tournament took place from February 25 to March 1, 1931 in the French port city of Marseille . It was the fourth Cadre 45/1 World Championship in France.
After Edmond Soussa had lost to Gustave van Belle in the elimination round, he benefited from van Belle's defeat against his compatriot Gaston de Doncker in the final round. This resulted in a tie game for the title that Soussa was able to win.
Tournament mode
It was played in the elimination round and in the final round in the round robin system up to 300 points. The points against the eliminated participants were not carried over to the final round. In the event of a tie in the MPs, the following order is taken:
At the end of the main round, Edmond Soussa and Gustave van Belle each had 12: 2 match points. According to the statutes of the time, a game of play had to decide the winner.
