The Cadre 47/1 World Championship 1980 was the fifth Cadre 47/1 UMB World Championship, which was held in Cadre 45/1 until 1938. The tournament took place from March 27th to March 30th, 1980 in Bottrop in the Ruhr area. It was the first Cadre 47/1 World Championship in Germany.
history
In a very balanced world championship, the Frenchman Francis Connesson prevailed with seven wins. The games with Ludo Dielis and Dieter Müller he only narrowly won thanks to the great strength of Neven. The outstanding participant in this championship was the Dutchman Hans Vultink , who screwed the world record in the general average (GD) to 44.95 . The German participants could not call up their best performance. The then German champion Thomas Wildförster started the tournament with a great disappointment. In his first world championship he was defeated by Connesson 5: 300 in nine shots. He showed his qualities in cadre 47/1 later in the tournament, which his highest series of 210 proves. Dieter Müller seemed overplayed by the many championships in recent weeks. The audience interest at this championship was overwhelming. The award ceremony was carried out by the then Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia Johannes Rau and the DSB (German Sports Association) President Willi Weyer .
Tournament mode
A final round in the round robin system up to 300 points was played. In the event of a tie in the MPs, the following order is taken:
- MP = match points
- GD = general average
- HS = maximum series
