Calvin Kang Li Loong (born April 16, 1990 in Singapore ) is a Singaporean track and field athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Timothee Calvin Kang Li Loong gained his first international experience in 2006, when he was eliminated from the Junior World Championships in Beijing with the 4 x 100 meter relay with 41.74 seconds. In the following year he finished seventh with the relay at the Asian Championships in Amman in 41.15 s and in 2008 he reached the semi-finals at the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz in the 100-meter run and was eliminated there with 10.75 s. Thanks to a wildcard, he was then allowed to start at the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he retired in the first round with 10.73 seconds . In addition, he then reached the semi-finals at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune , in which he was eliminated with 10.76 s. In 2010 he took part in the 60-meter run at the World Indoor Championships in Doha , but failed there with 6.91 s in the preliminary round. In October he took part with the relay at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi , but did not reach the final with 40.14 s. Even at the subsequent Asian Games in Guangzhou , he did not reach the final with the relay and in the 200-meter run he was eliminated with 21.68 s in the first round.

In 2011 he failed at the Asian Championships in Kobe with 21.86 s in the run over 200 meters and took fourth place with the relay in 40.24 s. He then took part with the relay at the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen and reached fourth place in 40.44 s and then won the silver medal behind the team from Indonesia in 39.91 s and was over 200 meters at the Southeast Asian Games in Palembang he seventh in 21.95 s. Two years later he reached sixth place at the student world games in Kazan with the relay in 40.27 s and then he reached the second round at the world championships in Moscow over 100 meters and was eliminated there with 10.66 s. At the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw he then won the silver medal again with the relay in 39.79 s, this time behind the team from Thailand. In 2014 he finished seventh over 60 meters at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou in 6.80 s and then took part again at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , where he was eliminated with 6.75 s in the lead. At the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow he failed over 100 meters with 10.77 s in the first round and even with the relay, 40.05 s were not enough for a final. He then retired from the Asian Games in Incheon with 10.67 s in the preliminary round and finished sixth in the season in 39.47 s.

In 2015, he finished fourth over 100 meters at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in 10.47 s and won the silver medal for the third time in a row with the relay with a new national record of 39.24 s. The following year he reached the semi-finals over 60 meters at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha, in which he was eliminated with 6.82 s. In 2017 he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar over 100 meters and was eliminated there with 10.61 s, while he finished sixth with the relay in 40.22 s. He was then at the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur in 10.74 s eighth over 100 meters and at the Summer Universiade in Taipei he was disqualified with the relay in the run-up.
