Caméra d'Or
The Golden Camera (Caméra d'Or) film award is presented on the occasion of the Cannes International Film Festival .
The award was launched in 1978 by the then festival president Gilles Jacob to honor the best debut film. The winner is determined by an independent, international jury made up of film directors, film technicians and film critics; the 2007 jury consisted of director Pawel Lungin , cameraman Renato Berta , documentary filmmaker Julie Bertuccelli and actress Clotilde Courau .
The award will be given to the director of the film during the closing ceremony.
There is a special mention for films that did not win the award but still represent an exceptional debut film ( Caméra d'Or - Mention Spéciale or Mention d'honneur ).
