Ernest Cameron Schilling (born October 7, 1988 in Carmel , Indiana ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League since July 2017 and for their farm team , the Manitoba Moose , in the American Hockey League plays on the position of defender .

Schilling first spent his junior years between 2007 and 2008 with the Indiana Ice from the United States Hockey League . From there, the defender moved to Miami University in the state of Ohio in the summer of 2008 . In addition to his studies, he played there for the following four years for the ice hockey team of the university in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . At the end of the 2010/11 season, Schilling won the division championship with the team.

Following his four-year college education, the undrafted free agent was signed by the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League in March 2012 . At the end of the 2011/12 season they used him for the first time in the professional field with their farm team , the Hershey Bears , in the American Hockey League . At the beginning of the 2012/13 game year , the American was a regular there. In all three seasons of his affiliation to the Capitals franchise , he came in each case in the NHL. These added up to just six missions in the summer of 2015 when he left the organization.

The defensive player did not receive a new contract in the franchise of the US capital after the 2014/15 season and therefore moved to the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent in July 2015 . There he received a two-year contract, but was only used in the AHL with Chicago's cooperation partner Rockford IceHogs until January 2017 . Dissatisfied with the development of the defender and without interest in a further commitment beyond the summer of 2017, the Blackhawks transferred Schilling to the Los Angeles Kings in mid-January 2017 in exchange for Michael Latta . With the Californians, Schilling fulfilled the remaining term of his contract in the AHL. For the Ontario Reign he was used in 37 games, including the playoffs.

In the 2017/18 season , Schilling found a new employer in the Winnipeg Jets , but in his first year he was only used in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose . The Jets extended the contract for another year in July 2018. The 30-year-old was still mainly active for the Moose, but at the end of November he made his debut for the Jets in the NHL and played his first games in the league since March 2015.
