Arthur von Brewer

Carl Ludwig Wilhelm Arthur von Brauer (born November 17, 1845 in Karlsruhe , † April 24, 1926 in Baden-Baden ) was a Baden politician.

Life

Brauer studied law at the University of Göttingen , where he became a member of the Corps Hannovera in 1865 . After graduating, he entered the civil service of the Grand Duchy of Baden . From 1871 he worked in the Foreign Service of the German Reich in Bucharest , Saint Petersburg and Cairo , from 1882 to 1888 as a lecturer in the political department of the office under Otto von Bismarck . From 1888 Bismarck's consultant in Friedrichsruh . After Bismarck's dismissal as Reich Chancellor, Brauer returned to Baden's service and became Baden's ambassador and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Federal Council . From 1893 to 1905, Brauer headed the Ministry of the Grand Ducal House and Foreign Affairs, the main department of which was the administration of the Baden State Railway . From 1901 Brauer was also President of the Baden State Ministry (or Minister of State, which, according to today's understanding, corresponded to the office of Prime Minister). In 1905 he received his requested farewell for health reasons and entered the court service of the Grand Duke. From 1906 Brauer held the post of Grand Chamberlain, but with the accession of Friedrich II. He gave up the office of Lord Chamberlain.
